Reolink RTSP URL Format

Use the following RTSP URL format to connect your Reolink camera to SmartCam Alerts.

# Main stream (high quality)
rtsp://username:password@IP:554/h264Preview_01_main
# Sub stream (lower bandwidth)
rtsp://username:password@IP:554/h264Preview_01_sub

Replace username and password with your Reolink camera credentials, and IP with the camera's local IP address. The "01" in the URL refers to channel 1. For NVR systems, change this number to match the camera channel. Note: RTSP must be enabled in Reolink's settings (it is on by default for most models).

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about using Reolink cameras with SmartCam Alerts.

How do I find my Reolink camera's IP address?
Open the Reolink app or Reolink Client on your computer, select your camera, and go to Device Settings > Network > Network Information. The camera's IP address will be displayed there. You can also check your router's connected devices list.
What are the default credentials for Reolink cameras?
The default username for Reolink cameras is "admin". The default password is blank (empty) unless you set one during initial setup. Newer Reolink firmware versions require you to create a password during first-time configuration.
Do I need to enable RTSP on my Reolink camera?
RTSP is enabled by default on most Reolink PoE and WiFi cameras. To verify, go to Device Settings > Network > Advanced > Port Settings in the Reolink app or client, and confirm the RTSP port (default 554) is enabled. Some newer battery-powered models may not support RTSP -- check your model's specifications.
Does this work with Reolink battery cameras like the Argus series?
Battery-powered Reolink cameras have limited RTSP support. Models like the Argus 3 Pro support RTSP when connected to WiFi, but the stream may not be continuous since these cameras use motion-activated recording to preserve battery life. For best results with SmartCam Alerts, use a wired PoE or WiFi-powered Reolink camera.
Does SmartCam work with Reolink NVR systems?
Yes. For cameras connected through a Reolink NVR, you can connect to each camera channel individually. Change the channel number in the RTSP URL (e.g., h264Preview_02_main for channel 2). You can connect to the NVR's IP address directly.
Can I connect multiple Reolink cameras?
Yes. The free tier supports one camera. The Pro plan supports up to 5 cameras, and the Business plan supports unlimited cameras. Each camera needs its own RTSP URL entered in the SmartCam Bridge.
